What do you do with your **spare** time?

Some of you might have read that and then snorted, or chuckled....What "SPARE" time are you talking about, Michelle? Did you happen upon a time warp/magical wishing well/fairy godmother that I don't know about? Well, no, and if I did, you know I would share that kind of intel - we all could use a little help. (I'm working on a cloning machine, so stay tuned!)

The kind of spare time I'm talking about is the time that we fill with mindless pursuits - mainly, for me - the computer and all it's bejeweled beauty.

Hello, my name is Michelle, and I am a facebook addict.

And I'm not the only one! If you are completely, unabashedly honest with yourself, you too, could admit this shameful sin. It's okay, the first step is admitting you can't control your problem/addiction. Or so I've heard. My point is this - what if instead of getting sucked into the vortex that is your little electronic friend, we actually filled that time with rewarding activities, like, checking off some of those nagging little "to do's" on your ever-growing list? (If you don't make lists, I can help you with that, too!)

It is hard to do, I know - but today I did it. And you know what? I mowed the lawn, played with the kids, whipped up a batch of gingerbread mix for the spooky halloween house we are going to construct later, cleaned the patio, cleaned the kitchen, did a load of laundry, and THEN I even had time to squeeze in a quick bejeweled game. And guess what? No one missed me on facebook that WHOLE time! Wow. (By the way, Luke just left with his Papa and Eagle is down for a nap, so no neglecting is going on by me taking the time to type this up!)

I know that most of you out there are perfect and don't have this problem, so it probably is just me...but if you find yourself at the keys, mindlessly cooking up some spaghetti and meatballs on cafe world, or farming your heart out on Farmville and you haven't been outside in days, maybe it's time to step away. Just take a break. It really won't hurt, I promise!
